Season 28 ahead

Written by Quick step minded at 20:29 15/3-2014

With the new season rapidly emerging, QSM decided to arrange a team-meeting (including all current riders, staff and several retired ex-riders) to discuss the tactical approach for the upcoming season.

The general consensus was that the team has done well in the last few weeks of this season, getting plenty of results among, it has to be said, can only be described as amateurs.

The focus for the first part of next season will be solely put on 2 races, being Monte Rosa Tour & Race of the Minutemen.

Monte Rosa tour starts on day 20, so we aim to be in division 5 by day 10 at the very latest, making us eligible to participate in the race.

After, what we hope will be a successfull tour, MRT, it's time to focus on Race of the Minutemen. Some good results in MRT should see us move into division 4, more than in time to sign up. This team participated in the inaugural edition and we'd be happy to see some familiar faces again after more than 10 seasons.

When we cross the line in the last stage, at least 1/3rd of the season will be left, and we will have a new evaluation what direction the team will go into (what division and what type of team).

Now, to make this a successful season the team is counting on some very experienced and decorated riders.

Conroy Hedger, Sigurd Lange and Chris Bauwens will all reach top-form somewhere along the line this season, hoping to outclass the competition. We have to mention that Bauwens is nearly 35yo and starting to get a bit crippled, but we believe he has 1 more classy performance in him, and this can be proven by the fact that he managed to get 12th in the GC of a 2nd division tour this season, as a team-mate and without TF, so there's still a bit of life left in the old dog.

We hope we will find a good time to recharge Welling in time for RoTM, but that is still undecided at the moment.

The support in the mountains will be given by Fogh, Podgorski, Richards and 3 of the 4 mentioned above when they ain't got the captain role.

And let's not bullshit about it, QSM aims high, we aim very high. This season will only be truly succesful if we bring home the win in the tours we mentioned.

Let's hope the results will reach our expectations.
